The Gunks Climbing Film Festival 2019 Sponsored by Rock and Snow
Come celebrate climbing, conservation and the passion of the Gunks community!

The Gunks Climbing Film Festival takes place over two days with our main event taking place Saturday night inside the Studley Theater at SUNY New Paltz.

Friday, October 11th at 6:00pm: Climber's Reception: An evening with Freddie Wilkinson
Festivities will begin with a Free Climbers’ Reception at the Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center on Friday, Oct. 11th from 6-9 p.m. This year we are excited to welcome world-renowned alpinist, Piolet d’Or recipient and Sterling Rope athlete Freddie Wilkinson as our honored guest of the evening! Freddie will be giving his presentation A Line On the Map: The Siachen Saga - Featuring extensive research, from recently declassified Government documents to a first-hand account of the highest lethal combat in human history, and a visit to the front lines with the Pakistan Army, this presentation is the culmination of five years of work by writer and climber Freddie Wilkinson ’02. Equal parts real life spy thriller, a fascinating case study of a major foreign policy blunder, and mountain adventure saga.
He will also be premiering his film: Rinpoche Speaks  There will also be food and drinks provided as well as some gear raffles!

Saturday October 12th at 8:00am: Coffee & Cams Breakfast at Rock & Snow
Come meet-up with your fellow climbers, get beta & tips from GCC members and Rock & Snow staff. Enjoy some free coffee & bagels! We want you fueled up before heading out to the crag, you got a full day of sending to do! Freddie Wilkinson will also be there to chat and doing poster signings!

Saturday October 12th at 6:00pm: Film Festival!
We will be premiering:
- ADAPTIVE - Jim Ewing  a Sterling Rope engineer and below-the-knee amputee  enlists professional climber, Maureen Beck  born without her left hand  to attempt the first all-adaptive ascent of the über classic and deeply remote Lotus Flower Tower (5.10+) in Canada's Cirque of the Unclimbables. As their adventure unfolds, we see that the ability to adapt is universal and a common thread that unites us. Watch Trailer
- HORNS OUT - Maurice Horn a 77 year old Montana climber, grapples with existential questions about his sense of place, identity, aging, and mortality. Watch Trailer
- NO MAN'S LAND FILM COLLECTION - with shorts that are un-defining what it means to be a woman in Adventure, Sport & Film!
- Plus many more films!

Big Thank you to our Title Sponsor: Rock and Snow!

our Support Sponsors - Sterling Rope, BC's New Paltz Climbing Gym, GunksApps, Neilico and Furnace Industries who's support made this event possible this year! They will be donating gear & prizes into the raffle! So make sure to get your raffle tickets for a chance to win some awesome climbing gear!

Will be hosting two contests on Saturday night:
- The Gunks Grunt Pull-up Contest sponsored by Furnace Industries!
