Heyo,

I am going to be building a little wall/cave maybe 45 degree or harder for about 8-16 feet and would like to get around spending $1000 plus on crashpads and was wondering if anyone has tried a self belaying-lead setup. Sounds too good to be true I think but curious if anyone has input.  Also I know nothing about gear so don't drop too much slang please.

Thanks!

Foam pads? All your doing is making a moonboard/boulder wall why do you need a belay?

Mattresses?

There is no way that you could make a self belay setup that would reliably prevent you from decking on a 45 degree overhang when you're only 8ft off the ground. You'd be better off just buying a single trifold pad, or a matress, or just a bunch of foam.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
