Patagonia Climbing Tips

Planning a trip to Patagonia in January, definitely planning on doing the O trek and thinking of heading to El Chalten afterward for climbing. Researching online, it says El Chalten is the climbing mecca, but I can't quite seem to find a lot of information? I was looking for easy-moderate sport and trad climbing, but everything looks super hardcore and all alpine climbing? Maybe a guided trip then? Any tips?

There is a lot of fun sport climbing and excellent bouldering near Chalten, but most travel there for large alpine objectives.  I don't know of any published information on the non-alpine stuff.

Look at climbing at around the Frey hut outside Barloche. Perfect for what you want. Better weather than the Chalten area. Rolo has an excellent guidebook for the area too. Get it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
