Do you need permission from the county to set up a tree to tree tyrolean permanently?

Probably depends on the county. If you're talking about JeffCo, shoot a message to the Foothills Climbing Community, which is the local climbing organization for that area. They work with the county and other land managers and will probably have the answer. https://www.facebook.com/FoothillsClimbing

The problem with such "permanent" installations is that they typically become attractive nuisances thus a liability and get removed once the land manager learns about them.

Depends on what county.

Just make sure of you set one across a creek that it is high enough to clear boaters below.

Besides being a dick move, It's a federal crime if you obstruct a navigable waterway in any way - up to a year in prison and $2,500 fine.

If you are talking about JeffCo - From the Jefferson County Open Space Regs: "It shall be unlawful to attach any object including, but not limited to, slack-lines, clothes lines, tents, hammocks or shade structures, to trees or structures."

Pretty sure that would apply to tyros as well. Requests would go to the County directly (not the FHRC - not technically fixed hardware).

Technically no in JCOS if you are slacklining off trees. Not sure if it is enforced, but that is the reg.

Hey man, slacklining is not a crime.

Agreed! But apparently it is in JCOS if you attach your line to a tree!

good thing the Supreme Court of Colorado has determined that ALL streams in Colorado are NON-Navigable.

Huh, look at that. I always took it as granted since every state I've ever lived in nearly 100% of flowing water was considered navigable. Either way, still a dick move!

Or hammock?! Didn't realize I could become an outlaw for napping at High Wire.

yep, its generally always the boaters that remove tyros, regardless of how high I hang them. I've never seen a land manager remove and only boaters.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
