Is Pawtuckaway holding any snow? We’re locked in up north. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Haven't been for couple weeks. But now with the dry days we had in the area I would say you might have some luck if you don't mind not so great conditions. A lot of the crags are very hard to dry. Rope climbing might be pretty limited. Devil's den, doesn't seep as much and dries ok, few climbs might be doable upper Cliff and Ridgeline. Boulders probably be better. But still will be a searching game. If it means anything, I was thinking on heading out there too. But I live 30min from. Not the best info but hope it helps a little.

Tried yesterday. Reservation road gate is closed. Several inches of snow in the woods. Didn't walk in to boulder natural area but looking down the road it didn't look promising at all. Blair also still had a few inches of snow and most topouts had snow and most things were seeping.

Right on thanks for the replies. This info definitely helps. Going to head a little further south. The rain tomorrow should clear things up a bit.

Climbed happily in Blair yesterday, I expect the rain down there will melt a lot of the snow and conditions will be good for maybe a week?

I was at round pond two days ago and saw a car drive up and turn around over by the parking area on thr other side of the water. I guess the gate is open again? I will try and see tomorrow.

Was out at Blair earlier today, as well as last week. While a few top outs are a bit snowy/slippery, most stuff is climbable. Haven't seen Round Pond or Boulder Natural.

Anyone have a guess at access and conditions tomorrow for the crags? Any chance of anything being climbable?

If anyone is wondering about the gate, there is a logging operation off of Reservation Rd going on. Sometimes they leave the gate open while working with a sign saying Road Closed and some people still drive in. They lock the gate after they finish working for the day and it has caused someone to try and destroy the gate with their truck (left their bumper and plate behind in the aftermath). After that incident i believe they have been blocking the road with a Skidder. Even if it is open don't drive down it, you risk getting run off the road by the loggers or locked in. Just head around to the Horse Farm parking.

Hey Joe, Devil's Den is super hit or miss, but it is your best bet for roping up in Pway. Sometimes everything up top is frozen and the rock is dry, other times it's coated in ice. In any case it's north facing and generally really cold in the winter.
