I'm with a small design company from Germany and we have just published a world map of the “Mountains of the Earth”. We would very much like to know what you think of our map design and concept.

Our map displays over 500 mountains on all continents. We color-coded each summit according to its height level. We use different mountain icons for relatively low peaks (< 1,000 meters) and for ultra-prominent peaks.

This is how it looks on the map:

Areas with a lot of interesting summits, like the Himalaya, Karakoram, or also the Alps and the Caucasus, are a bit overcrowded and it is a big design challenge to place so many summits, which are close to each other on a world map scale.

The whole map looks like this:

The poster size is 140 x 100 cm (~ 55 x 39 in). This includes the title and the map legend above, and the list of mountains below the map.

Thanks for all your thoughts, comments, and suggestions regarding our map.

Looks cool.

I would lose the colored scale and incorporate it into the mountain icons.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
