I just got down the mountain. The 243 going up from the 10 fwy (Banning) is only open to residents. CHP is stopping and checking every vehicle. The fire is extremely close to Idyllwild.

View from Hemet. The fire jumped 243 at the grinding station. Lots of fuel to burn.

I wish I got your joke Erik. I am slow and don't watch too much television or movies... Are you trying to be funny?

Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) - sorry, I couldn't resist the meth-cooking/fire bad joke.

Can see from the 15 in SD. I think...or is that just a big cloud?

But now I get it. Yes, bad joke. Too many friends I know are in for a wild ride... again.

Looks like a fire generated cloud, tradiban. Geez, sorry guys! Looks like an ugly one, too.

Best, Helen

The fire is creating it's own weather up there. Intense!

Looks like it might be a Jtree year, and I hate JTree!

Yeah, that's what it looked like to me. We've only had half a dozen or so this year, small by Idaho standards, but our season is just starting. Unfortunately, fires are the norm, here. We've got smoke from Yosemite and the southern Oregon fires in Boise, now. Wahoo.

Saw a CalFire vehicle in town earlier this week! Maybe NIFC (or whatever their acronym now) had a training or something?

Best to you guys, truly! The west is in for it this year, I'm afraid.

If this is he worst thing that happens to me my life is still a 9/10.

There's full time residents there that might lose everything, pray/eat/shit, or whatever you do for positivity, for them. Godspeed!

Godspeed indeed. As someone who lives surrounded by NF and has had a lightning strike fire just 200 yards from the house I can relate. Throwing positive your way. By the handful.

Looks like it was started by an arsonist, and the suspect has been detained.

4700 acres as of now and that's The Fort in downtown Idyllwild for reference.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
