What can people tell me about climbing in South America? I'm looking to take a quick trip,  maybe 5 days of alpine, a few days of cragging. Because I am very limited on time, I'd like to maximize climbing so ease of access from a major airport is a concern. Let me hear your opinions and experiences!

I've heard Santiago is fantastic. I'm headed there for a ski trip in August but am looking to climb one day (maaaaybe more, but it's snowing there a lot) and there have been lots of resources online

Bogota, Colombia might be a good choice. You've got:
Suesca 1hr away.  Mostly trad but a lot of Sport, Solid rock, there's plenty of multi-pitch, around 400+ routes from 5.6 to 5.14b
Machetá 1hr 15min. 100% Sport, pumpfest- overhang - badass... paradise, 5.11 to 5.14, around 100 routes
Sutatausa 2hrs away I believe?? Sport/Trad, sweet spot, heard great things but never got the chance to climb there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
