Climbing sun ribbon arete next weekend.  Anyone have an update on conditions for the snow field (if there even is one this year).  Thanks in advance!

Snowfield was there 3 weeks ago when I climbed darkstar, no crampons needed on approach/descent down contact pass. Met some folks who wore light crampons on approach to sun ribbon, but I suspect you can get  by kicking steps the day prior.

Was at sun ribbon arete on Saturday and I felt that crampons were helpful on the descent, although probably not necessary. We crossed the snowfield on the approach to gain the rocky ledge for the majority of the remainder of the approach. Some big snowfields upon descending the gully in contact pass, but looking back on topos you could probably avoid mostly by staying on the eastern ridgeline. These snowfields were definitely doable without crampons though.

Thanks Mike and Byron for the updates! Without crampons it is!
