It looks like the Valley Fire is impacting Frustration Creek, according to the latest map. Hwy 38 is currently closed.

Highway 38 will now be closed only from Bryant Avenue to Angelus Oaks.
Highway 38 Between Lake Williams Drive and Angelus Oaks is open, however access will only be through Big Bear.
There will be no public access between Valley of the Falls Drive and Angelus Oaks on Hwy 38 due to the mudslides and fire activity along Highway 38.
Mountain Home and Forest Falls evacuations have been lifted, however residents only with ID and proof of residency will through the road closure.
All hiking trails accessing the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area are closed.

More problems besides the fire - an estimated 11 foot deep x 25 foot wide mudslide poured out of Frustration Creek and across the roadway due to rains in the area Sunday.

Maybe this will burn out all of the poison oak?

there goes all the routes on tier 1, tier 3 routes are probably a lot shorter, again...

The first big slide since the initial development was about fifteen years ago and took 40 feet off the 3rd tier as well as 10-15 feet off the first tier.

Frustration Creek is certainly living up to it's name with these repeated mud/debris slides and seems to be in the process of slowly filling itself more quickly than can be reversed.

Some photos from Thursday (7/12) afternoon:

The crews are only digging out the drainage channel, so the rest of the clean-up will have to be done by climbers. Probably best to not climb here until all official work is completed and the current cycle of mountain thunderstorms has finished; no need to endanger one's self as there is plenty of other local spots to visit.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
