Im headed up to Boone next week and I’m looking for any suggestions. I’ve tried google but it’s a little overwhelming and it’s hard to tell if the campground is actually a good place to stay. It doesn’t need to be in Boone but relatively close (within an hour drive) but in the high country.

I don't have any suggestions if you want an established campground. But if you just want a place to park, I suggest driving into Gingercake Acres and down Table Rock Road to any of the pullouts or parking areas there. Or down Kistler Memorial Highway. Both Spence Ridge Trail on the Table Rock Road side and Conley Cove on the Kistler side lead down to the Linville River and some of the south's best bouldering. Conley Cove Trail also leads to some nearby mediocre routes at the area called Conley Cove as well as some of the best rock in the state at Linville River Crag. Table Rock Road tends to be in better condition for getting in and out quickly
