Linking videos: let's fix this once and for all

So, maybe I'm a bit OCD, but there's really a proper and a shitty way to link a vid on MP. Just thought we could use a little tutorial in here.

If you do that:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPcZ_qNJvD4

Really, the 21st century made me lazy, but I don't want to go to the trouble having to open a new window, have it load, all of it to end up right in the midst of a shitty go-pro shooting up a 5.7 slab.

Now, if instead you would click on the camera-like symbole on the top bar (the one that, appropriately, says "Link video"), you would get something much, much sexier-looking:

No need to open up a new dirty tab.

See?

One point of view - if someone where to quote your post, just like I did, the WHOLE video frame would be embedded ( I purposefully delete it, but the process is PITA).

Additionally, posting link as text allows to have "start time" modifier, while embed does not seem to have that functionality -
"Assisted dyno" with time stamp - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsAiOYXC-k0&t=61

Yeah there are sometimes downsides, but it seems to me that the base use-case would rather be to embed the video instead of just putting down a URL. Link in the trad vid topics for example - I just skim for those that are embedded and tend to skip the linked one... lazy I know but I think I'm not the only one...

it takes less energy to middleclick the mouse button on the link to make a new window, than it does to keep scrolling the mouse button past some giant video windows. (this problem is even worse on mobile).
we're climbers man, our fingers our pumped!

Yeah but who's got time to read previous reply to a thread these days?

Missed what I was going for about the link to every single video in youtube because he doesn't want to change sites to view a video just go to youtube and you can see them all without going anywhere!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
