Is a 4 day trip to red rock june 1-4 a bad idea due to the heat/worth the money? I understand that it is possible to chase the shade which means early start and early finishes. Does anyone have any experience with this?

What grade what style?

For sport it's probably not worth it for an out of towner. Most locals will be up at Charleston by then.

Bouldering is completely out.

Multipitch can be amazing that time of year in the shade, but some logistics need to be considered.

We sport climbed in RR park last year in the first week of June 2017 and it was fine in the shade. The posted temperature (100++) kept the popular sport crags relatively empty. The heat was dry and there was always a desert breeze. It was a great 4 day trip in the shade!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
