Helmet on Epinephrine?

Wear your helmet on the plane!  It takes up zero room in your luggage.

I've often thought about wearing my harness completely loaded with trad gear as a "climbing outfit."  It would free up a lot of room in my bags.

If the airlines are able to transport large passengers for an equivalent fare then they can fly around a fit climber with an extra heavy "outfit" strapped to their hips.

I didn't wear a helmet.  You should wear a helmet.

It would also give you a psychological advantage in the Battle for the Armrest.  No one wants to mess with a clearly deranged fellow traveler.

You’re climbing outside on a multipitch where rock fall is a possibility.  Wear a helmet.  Also, strap it to the outside of your bag.  It takes up zero pack space.

Am I the only one that thinks it’s odd to ask the general public to help them answer a quite easy personal question?

Wear one if you want, don’t wear one if you want. Does it really take public consensus to come to one of the above answers?

Ya, hence my sarcasm.

If ya have to ask....

3. Ask if the helmet will fit in the overhead and could it be carried by an African Swallow? O wait that's a coconut.

Am I imagining things, or is that a Dr Doolittle reference?

I'd swear the esteemed Dr used African swallows in his Post Office.

But I gave our remaining Doolittle books to Peter Beal, so can't verify.

How's this for a rule?

If ya have to ask if you need something in climbing, you definitely need it! 100% true, every time.

Hey guys, gonna be climbing at Vegas and wondered if you tip the strippers or not and which casino has the best buffet and loose slots (not counting Tradiban)?

Shots fired yo'!

Hey Tut, I heard your momma had the loosest slots back when she worked the strip. >:P

Definitely wear the helmet. And a face mask. Flying is dangerous.

'twas a good question to have asked, Adam.

Just wear the helmet on the plane so it doesn't take up extra space.

I'm flying out to Vegas on soon and getting on Epinephrine. I don't really want to pack my helmet because it takes up too much space. However, I have yet to see a photo/video of someone not wearing a helmet on this climb. What's your take on this?

So your question is: "Should I wear a helmet on a popular long multipitch trad climb where there are likely to be multiple people above me in an area known for friable rock?"

My theory is that if I even think of wearing a helmet, I wear it. And, if it doesn't cross my mind, well, I don't wear it. That way I can never look back and say, "damn, I knew I should have worn my helmet".

Boom. The debate is over:

I was only asking for a reason why I there are no photos without helmets. Rock fall, people dropping things, etc. falling in a chimney was a good reason.

Do you wear your seatbelt while driving?  I fit my helmet quite easily in my gear bag. Stuff it full of socks, chalk bag or other shit. A good friend was climbing Epinephrine when she was hit in the head by a backpack dropped by a party above. You can expect there to be plenty of people above you. Your mileage will vary.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
