Dear Mountain Project folks,

I was involved in a really bad climbing accident 20 years ago on a sea stack called The Totem Pole in Tasmania. A TV sized block landed on my head from 80 feet and I was hauled up a sheer face 90 feet to a ledge by one of the most courageous women you can think of. I was then waiting for 10 hours with a gaping hole in my head half way up one of the most inaccessible pinnacles in the world. Anyway i wrote a book about it 'The Totem Pole' which won The Banff Mountain Book Festival Grand Prize and the Boardman Tasker Award for Mountain Literature (still the only book to do the double). The book has not seen a reprint for 16 years and I am currently in the process of republishing. If you are interested in a true epic tale of mountaineering, possibly the most daring cliff rescue ever executed by a lone woman, or have had a trauma yourself and want to read about another persons trauma (I alway do) then please visit -

and pledge to buy a book.

Many many thanks in advance,

Paul Pritchard.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
