Hey all, I recently found out about the Live your Dream Grant from the American Alpine Club. Has anyone here gotten it before? Is it easy or hard to get the grant? Does anyone know a whole lot about it? Just curious about it, and looking into using it to do a big mountaineering trip. Any beta on it would be much appreciated

Thanks

it's easy to apply, you fill out a simple form on their website.  I've applied once in the past and did not get a grant but a friend of mine did obtain one the same year

Based on my understanding, decisions are made by the club reps in the area in which you reside and apply ie. Southeast, Northeast etc. I don't like the method because it lends itself to favoritism of the reps and becomes a game of who you know. I think that needs to change to make decisions more objective. That being said, It could pay dividends to network within the area AAC clubs close to you to increase your likelihood of getting a grant awarded.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
