Hi,

Looking for climbing suggestions (and maybe a partner too) in the Bass Lake area

(within 30 min) at the end of Jan.

I'm not up to speed on the road/access or climbing conditions.

Open to sport, trad or peak bagging (have crampons, ice axe/tools, easy bc touring)

Disclaimer: I'm aware of the place known as "Yosemite", but it would be too far.

Also aware of Fresno Dome and the advice given from this thread on ST:

Are any parts of Shuteye accessible now?

Is there nearby bouldering?

Any help appreciated. Thnx

Is this the same Bass Lake where the Great Outdoors was filmed?

We climbed Chiquito Dome Jan 1 & 2. Great climbing, easy access (by Sierra standards), and the most pleasant climbing and camping conditions I've had in the Sierra.

That said. the road out of North Fork has major repairs under way. 3 places half or more of the road has sluffed down the mountain side. The other side, over Cold Springs was icy rough packed snow in long stretches despite warm, temps. I was shocked.

One should inquire or call before making a trip.
