Yosemite truly does suck. It's overrun with rangers and rules. No dogs, no weed, no good campsites, permits... not to mention it's over priced. Fuck that place.

This is the best thread we’ve had on MP in a long time.

Ted, you are very clever but I think the MP "community" is evolving their ability to deal with the trolls, making this thread a complete success!

Man, the Beatles are wildly overrated and tbh I only like their music when someone else covers it. Like Sheryl crow.

Wait, that's not climbing related.

Yoko Ono had talent, wasn't responsible for breaking up the Beatles, doesn't treat John Lennon like he was Jesus, and doesn't act like she is the Pope for all things Lennon.

Lennon was bigger than Jesus. He said so himself ;)

Watching videos of people climbing without ropes has inspired me to start climbing.  Can anyone recommend some good cliffs for a beginning soloist.  Also, which satellite beacon should I get in case I can't get cell reception?

I would start on snake dike... best starting free solo route there is.

LEAD SOLO IS NOT DANGEROUS.  You are relying completely on everyone else and their skills as a climber.  You will have plenty of help to double check your systems and one mistake could be fun or result in a serious good time.

If you can run 5 miles in the heartland at a brisk pace, you can easily solo Rainier in a single push.  Just shadow a guided group through the glaciers.  If anything goes wrong, their NP concession requires them to save you.  And don't bother with a permit either.  That's strictly for suckers.

Being a really good climber doesn’t really mean shit.

There's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good at climbing.
