What is with the Beta:0 section on route comments?

I never noticed it before so I think it is new. Now comments on entered climbing routes have a little section with the word Beta followed by a colon and a number - usually 0.

What is that about? I did a search and found nothing.

Personally I detest posts that tell you how to do the actual climbing moves (as do a lot of people) and wondered if it had anything to do with that.

The number is the number of upvotes that comment has. I think the idea is to let the best comments rise to the top instead of having it be presented chronologically like it used to be.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
