This might be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find the specific type of metal/alloy used for C4 cams. I'm writing an article and would like to know the specific metal used. Steel? Aluminum?

aircraft grade aluminum for the cam lobes. I can't remember exactly what number alloy something like 7704

The axles are stainless steel i think and the stem is made from steel cable.

Most climbing gear is made out of 7075-T6 aluminum. I suspect that's what the lobes are made out of. I seem the recall the maincable was stainless steel and the axles were carbon steel. Possibly an alloy steel. Dont have one on hand to look at though. I know the 3rd gen used carbon steel axles.
