CRAG BAGS?
I’ve been looking around for “the perfect” bag to take to the crag. I’m looking for storage pockets, room for rope, and gear loops. TNF’s cragaconda and Edelrig’s Crag Bag II both a good, but I want to see what others are using. Any suggestions? |

The new TNF Cinder 55. Or a small haul bag. Russ’s atomsmasher is sweet. |
Ok serious now. Atom smasher rocks http://www.fishproducts.com/catalog/big_wall.html support Russ not BD. BITD I would order stuff from Russ and he would write me notes with my order, I thought that was cool as shit. |

I'm a fan of the BD Creek |

I like the Trango Crag Pack. My climbing partner loves her BD Creek pack. We both like haul bag style packs that stand on their own. |
Love my BD Creek. It doesn't have internal gear loops, but it has internal space (a LOT of it). |
The BD Pipe Dream 45 looks pretty rad for single pitch cragging. |

I had been using Metolius Express for 3 or 4 years before I moved to from CA. Wouldn't say it's perfect, although it is good enough. Just right volume and (almost) no bells and whistles. Now days I have CAMP Rox Work pack. Basically it's a piece of shit. Although I am able to bring everything we need to the crag, have a nice day with a great fellows, then hike off. Thus it's a really good pack (even being a poorly made piece of poorly designed shit). |

Tyler Lotz wrote: I use the Patagonia Cragsmith 35L, It's a little small for a full trad rack and rope, helmet etc,, But it's fine for Sport cragging http://www.patagonia.com/product/cragsmith-pack-35-liters/48055.html |

If you attach your helmet to the daisies and strap the rope to the top (it has a rope strap), you have plenty of room inside for rack etc. Personally, I like being able to throw everything inside (appeal of the Creek50), but thats a personal preference point I think. |

Tendon has a crag pack coming out in a couple of months. I checked out the pre-manufacturing design and it looks pretty good. Clamshell design, 45L, rope tarp, gear loops, pockets for jacket and guide book, personal items, etc. Probably around $90-$100 when it's released in the US. Pics at the bottom of the page on this link. http://www.mytendon.com/introducing-new-technology-tefix-and-much-more |

Metolious sentinel or a fish haul bag |
Ikea bag if its short approach. Osprey kid carrier makes best crag pack imo for longer approaches |
I checked out the MEC Cragalot in-store the other day (don't own one) and it seems like a good, value-priced option if you're set on a separate pack for cragging. I use my BD Speed 30, but that does put a lot of wear on it so I've been thinking about getting the Cragalot. |
Creek 50 swallows everything. Side zip makes it easy to get stuff out of the bottom. Carries big loads well (double rack, 70m 9.8, 2l water, etc). |
I bought the Mochila on you-alls recomendation. No complaints! You'll love it Steve |
Doesn't really meet your requests for gear loops criteria but I've been using the Patagonia Crag Daddy 45L. It's nice to just throw everything in there and it's a real comfortable pack for the longer approaches. Rope storage too. Just a thought. |

Using the https://www.backcountry.com/salewa-guide-48-backpack-2929cu-in now and it's been great. Tons of space, vertical front zipper for access, gear loops, and a few pockets inside. Seems bomber and it's comfortable. |

I have an odd obsession with packs made by people in garages and highly support people like Russ (Fish) and Josh (TUFA). I've also spent plenty of time in my own garage sweating over an old Singer and can tell you that there is a high degree of satisfaction carting your sh*t around in something you cobbled together. Spend the extra few bucks and get something made by someone who both sews and climbs - I bet you'll be happier* * if not sell it to me |
