Wondering how the late december weather at Obed and LRC is for climbing. Im coming from the northeast so Im sortve used to cold weather, but what should I expect for daytime temps down there and possible snowfall?
Peak Southern climbing season really goes from Late October- March. It might get cold in the shade on some routes, both other than that, it should be great. December is ideal for most places.
Not totally sure about LRC as it's in the trees, but I think people climb there year round. Obed is climbable year round for sure. Just pick a sunny wall - North or South Clear or Obed wall (tieranny, etc).
The only time in the area that it might be bad weather will be January. It's the only time we really get much snow and usually it's just rain. It was 65 and sunny on Christmas day last year.
As long as the sun is out you can climb at T-wall. I've even climbed there while it was lightly snowing. If you can find sun in LRC, it'll be good as well but I'm not sure how much sun it gets.
