Looking at a possible trip to see a friend and hoping to climb. Anywhere south of Mexico City. Anything roped? Any good guidebooks for the area? What are the existing climbing communities there? Any other amazing locations/hiking? Any reccommendations are appreciated!

About 3 hrs north of Mexico City, but a great option none the less.

If you are looking to get serious there is some pretty epic stuff down in Chiapas in sumidero canyon.  Up to grade V, 1000' lines that have been climbed once or twice.
