Just drove past Scott's Bluff on way home from the eclipse. Looked interesting from a distance but I did not find any route/area info on MP or elsewhere.

Anyone know if worth a trip or is it lousy rock?

Thanks'

Terrible rock (if you can even call it rock), private land, off-limits.

Let me amend some info:

You said Scott's Bluff, and I answered for the nearby Chimney Rock. Scott's Bluff is actually a national monument. It has hiking trails, but the lousy quasi-rock is the same. So not private land and not off-limits, but nothing any sane person would want to climb. Actually it's clay: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brule_Formation

"It is a sequence of fine grained clastic rocks (claystones, mudstones, siltstones) interbeded with freshwater carbonates, volcanic ash (tuff), and sandstone"

best outdoor climbing is at the walmart retaining wall in omaha on 72nd.  Though security will meet you sometimes to kick you out.  Had some good times top roping a cottonwood tree once.

Glad I moved elsewhere for some real climbing though.

Pawnee Buttes aren't too far from Scott's Bluff.

Looks like a real adventure.

Ok - Scotts Bluff yes on hiking, no on climbing.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
