What are some must hit stops in alaska. Will likely have access to some climbing gear once im up there. But anything that is kick ass climbing or not to do would be great. Going mid september.

Mid September is nearing the end of the climbing season around Anchorage. Most places along the road system will be in full fall color making the hiking and general adventuring very good. If you have a few days to climb, Hatcher Pass has some very good, though somewhat adventurous, granite sport and trad. It will be cool up there. There is other climbing along the road systems but i wouldn't plan your trip around climbing.

Not climbing, but stunning scenery--Glenn Highway north and east of Anchorage.  Denali Highway if you have the time.  September is wondrous there--peak of fall colors (yellows with poplar along the Matanuska River, reds on tundra along Denali Highway).  Check weather before venturing on the Denali--135 mile dirt road.

If you have the money, do an alaska range flight tour out of talkeenta. It's a few hundred dollars, but I promise you it will be something you remember for the rest of your life. Fly with Talkeetna Air Taxi

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
