We are planning on a Teton Crest trip in Teton NP starting Friday morning, camping along Death Canyon Shelf and North Fork Cascade. We have varying levels of experience so excessive snow travel is of concern.

I would appreciate any input that can be shared regarding the route conditions. We saw pictures from the Park Services Blogspot site; http://tetonclimbing.blogspot.com/ - but it's hard to tell much other than there's a ton of snow!

Thanks!

Call the Jenny Lake Ranger Station (307-739-3343) and ask?

the snow is nice, sneaker penetration would be minimal and no avalanche danger, (except very isolated, full depth, wet, hard, rock bed) mostly one finger, pencil hard, dense grain snow.

No brainer...ice axe,  boots and crampons and the knowledge/experience of their use.

Thanks for the information! I assume snow on trail coverage is consistent along the crest trail as stated on their website.

A week ago on Table Rock, were able to stay on top of the snow until 9,500'. At that point, we began postholing and had to use snowshoes up to 11,000'.

I would guess at least another week before the snow above 10,000' is consolidated, maybe two.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
