Hi, Planning a weeklong trip to the Lone Pine/Bishop/Mammoth area to climb and hike. We are looking for beta on camping in the summer in this area. Primitive preferred.

  • Is the pit campground open? I've tried calling the BLM field office in Bishop but haven't been able to reach them.
  • Is camping at the Buttermilks viable in July? too hot?
  • I've seen people camping along Pine Creek Rd. Anyone have info on this?

We're willing to hike into a campsite too, but will have a couple cars to park. Any tips would be appreciated

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
