Yo Gang,

I  know you're all hoping, as I am, that the new comprehensive Yosemite guidebook that has been promised for years is at the printers. No word on that (or post up!).

Many folks who have bought our new select Valley free climbing guide have missed that it comes with a free app. Just go to the app store, download the free Vertical Life app, then find the Yosemite title in the 'trad' section and put in your code from the back of your free climbing book, to redeem your app.

Yosemite routes are always changing, so we're going to put out a major update, via the app, this fall. If you already bought the book it will be a free upgrade.

So please send any corrections/edits/suggestions you have for Rock Climbing Yosemite Valley to erik@yosemitebigwall.com!

ps. I'll post up some pictures that didn't quite make it in the book, to keep this thread interesting. Here's a younger, flabbier Dr Honnlove just earning his chops. Who can name the route?

Talk about a "butt shot." I could have gone my whole life without seeing that photo.

Where and when we could buy the new Yosemite comprehensive guidebook?

It's not available. Apparently, it's just a lot of talk so far. I think that is Erik's point.

No, my friend. The people working on it are simply taking the needed time with a guide that (reportedly) will have over 3000 routes in it.

Thanks for the tips friends! Here's one that no one has mentioned - if you're heading up Border Country on Middle folks have decided that the last pitch is a rope-catching grass heap, and have lowered the flag one pitch on that one.

Keep the corrections coming! erik@yosemitebigwall.com

Erik - how does this differ from your existing book? (confused...as that came out just recently)

Ryan - the existing (Rock Climbing Yosemite Valley) book comes with a free app from Vertical Life. The cool thing about getting a free app with your purchase of the book is we can update the book via the app. So you don't have to wait years for us to print a new book to get updates, you just get the updates on your app for free!

Yosemite Bigwalls: The Complete Guide (my bigwall book), does not come with a free app. There is an inexpensive pdf ebook available of that book, which was updated this year for 2017.
