Other than pink tricams, what piece of gear do you most commonly find yourself placing at The Gunks?

.5-1 C4. Really wish I had a yellow C3 for all the fatty pin scars

Depends on the grade. I'd say at the lower grades there are tons of fat horizontals-- .75, Number 1, number 2.

Above 5.8 my favorites are the green and yellow Alien, they go everywhere.

0.4 C4 and yellow totem cam go somewhere on almost every pitch from 5.4 to 5.8

Another vote for 0.4 C4.  Definitely my most placed piece.

5.9 and up - yellow/grey alien + yellow c3 (the pin scar cam) + depending sometimes it feels like I can put a million purple c4s

5.8 and below - purple to red c4

when i used to live out there, i carried triple .4 c4's

they go in quite frequently. I only every climbed 5.9+ there so YMMV depending on how hard you climb.

Post got me thinking.  When I climbed more frequently at the Gunks it seemed that on the 5.6 and lower grades the most frequently bootied piece was the brown tricam.  It is the equivalent a .5 C4.  So that would fit with a vote for .4 C4 given that people were attempting to place the brown tricam in a crack too small for it.   Agree with Rob regarding the yellow/grey alien - yellow C3 for higher grades.
