Humidity issues regarding storing climbing gear in basement

I built a house with a 1,300 square foot unfinished basement, but it's in the Midwest where it may be 60-70% humidity.

Is it safe to store climbing gear such as ropes and draws in the basement, on a rack?  I'm concerned about humidity / moisture / mildew affecting softgoods.  It's a new construction house so no mold/mildew issues yet, except for this bookshelf I salvaged from someone's flooded basement due to a busted pipe I'm keeping in the attached garage, but am going to dispose of it after discovering extensive mold.

Would a dehumidifier help?

You're fine. No need for a dehumidifier.
