I will be in Orono, ME until next Saturday, May 20th. Looking to climb some rock. Trad/sport, whatever. I have a rack and rope etc. I should also be around later in the summer too for more climbing. Helped move my girlfriend up here and have nothing to do all week while she works so hit me up.

Yeah I just went there today. My plan is to just go to Alpenglow everyday and hang around until someone takes me climbing.

Haha, pretty good plan! There's some excellent climbs at Clifton that no one knows about.

Unfortunately, I will only be around in June. Otherwise, I would totally be keen on checking out Clifton with you! So far I have found mention of a guide book, but no exact info on which guide that would be. @Jonathan: do you know what guide book has Clifton in it? I would like to pick up a copy while in Maine...

The guidebook is out of print sadly. Guy at the shop told me that it is adventurous but most climbs have anchors on top of them. I would be down to go look around. I'll hit you up if/when I come back up.

Sweet, yeah, definitely drop me a line if you are around! I was never a bold climber but I am no stranger to "adventurous"...

I have climbed there a lot with out a guide book, just don't assume that because you see bolts it is fully bolted. Also I have discovered that you can't get off everything at big chick with a single rope

I believe Stuart Green's book on New England covers part of Clifton. Not positive because I don't have a copy to verify that. I found a leftover copy of the original Clifton guidebook in Bar Harbor years ago... glad I got it when I did... Eagle is a great crag with some committing climbs and stiff grades. A real gem!

I think John Tierney, owner of the alpenglow shops wrote the guidebook. I'm surprised it's gone out of print.
