I've been thinking of some ways to try to give back to the community and one of the ideas I had was to create a "check-in" app, of sorts.
Of course, I wanted to know if it's been done before (why reinvent the wheel?) so I got on Google and sure enough, I found https://hikeralert.com (there might be more, or course.)
Anyway, who knows if this is something relevant to people. At the very least, I think it's a good idea to let people know where you're going and when you expect to be back. Even sending them a quick email with a link to a relevent MP page, and or any other relevant information, is smart. That's what I currently do, anyway.
Eventually, I'll get a SPOT or something similar. Either way, I don't think it hurts to be "redundant" by sharing your plans with others as well as having push button SOS.
Unless, of course, you don't want any of them to know where you are going but, that's another story; albeit totally understandable lol
