If you think you could take care of a dog, go to your local shelter and save a life.  They provide indescribable friendship, and they will always be there for you.  Even if you work and the dog will be alone for 8-10 hours a day, consider whether they would rather be alive and home alone for 1/3rd of the day, or put down because no one would take them home.  Climbers are some of the nicest, and most compassionate people in the world.  Go to your local shelter and save a life today.  You won't regret it.

Well put!  Remember that crag dogs need to learn 4 essential truths, 1)  Stay off the rope, 2)  What "ROCK" means, 3)  What "ROPE" means and 4)  How to stay out of trouble with other vertebrates.  Also recall that not all climbers feel the same way we do about canines at the crag.

Nacho barks at other people. But he's alive and happy. He barks at other dogs too.

+100 on the indescribable friendship.

ps - nacho (and whiskey) already know what 'get out of the kitchen' means so i just use that to get then out of the rope area.

Pretty much all dogs are territorial which means (at least for mine) they'll be all lovey dovey when we walk up on someone at a crag but they'll be all barky when someone walks up on us.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
