My SO and I are looking to have a nice movie night. Any recommendations?

free is for me, but paying a few bucks for a good flick is ok.

we've seen valley uprising and meru, which I speculate will be hot recommendations.

Thanks!

Cerro Torre - A Snowball's Chance In Hell--- Really good film, sheds light on some of the controversy around the Red Bull shenanigans in El Chalten a few years back. I was particularly surprised to them admit to making some mistakes in their pursuit of the filming.

I couldnt sleep at night if I didn't recommend Vertical Limit. More of a "how-to" training film, but there is some good plot in there, as well.

You can find, for free on the interwebs, Ammon McNeely's film about the second attempt on Wings of Steel...I think the title is "Assault on el Cap."

This is a good one. I think I watched it for a small fee on Vimeo. It was sad to see what a bunch of a**holes climbers can be to each other.

For a documentary style: Wideboyz I and II, Redemption, A Line Across the Sky

For niche climbers only films: Life on Hold, Swedish Meatballs, Dosage, etc

You should check out Mirror Wall, free by Berghaus too.

The Eiger Sanction should be on this list too, although I doubt you can find it free.

The Summit.  A great documentary on the savage mountain K2. The only peak left to see a winter ascent I believe.

Does anyone know if this film streams online anywhere?  I can't find anything other than a DVD order on Lowe's site.

"El Capitan" by Fred Padula, chronicles an early ascent of The Nose from the 1960s. Captures the excitement, adventure, and wonder of climbing like no film ever has. Total classic, and recently remastered and available. http://www.elcapfilm.com/

Solo, by Mike Hoover is an old classic. No dialog, just a man on a mountain. Co-starring a tiny frog.

I saw it jr high or high school in the 70s, and then more recently found the whole thing on Vimeo. Couldn't find that, but here's the start:
