Anyone have any experience with these things? http://www.libertymountain.com/products/6598/NTN16118/grivel-ad-ascender-descender |

Nope. I do with the Black Diamond ascenders, they are great, and this place has them cheap right now. $57 each. https://www.trekkinn.com/outdoor-mountain/black-diamond-index-right/1229690/p?utm_source=google_products&utm_medium=merchant&id_producte=1275438&country=us&gclid=CJyhxqjls9MCFQ2ffgod4qAOPQ&gclsrc=aw.ds |

I use this ascender professionally for rope access work. I like it. The handle is comfortable. I like how large the connector holes are . rappelling on it is wired and I don't use it for that application. However it's an ok back up if you were to drop your descending device and are not used to rappelling with an munter hitch. I also have the petzl ascender. Both are high quality. I'd choose the one that's on sale. |

Kevin Beadle wrote: This is a tad confusing. I don't know how you would rappel with ascenders. Other than just opening them up and slowly descending a rope, but that's only done for short sections as needed, not to descend an entire length of rope. I think it can be assumed that anyone looking at ascenders is using them only to go up, not to go down. |
