Does anyone have beta on campsite availability at Jumbo Rocks or HVCG? We are trying to decide if we should drive into the park to look for a site, or if its a waste of time. Thanks!

6 PM on Friday night qualifies as "waste of time" unless your idea of a good time is driving around pleading with people to let you double up with them.

I drove up from SD thursday night and got skunked everywhere. Even cottonwood and black canyon were full. I attempted to pay people to let me park my car in their extra spots but everyone said no. I ended up just driving back home. But the joshua trees are blooming so I got to at least look at them with a flashlight.

no need to despair or drive home.  if all the campsites and nearby campgrounds full,  stay at the dry lake on blm land!  it's only like 10-15min from downtown jtree.  and since it's blm, it's free :)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
