I think the road is plowed to the first campground, check with the Ranger station.

Mammoth received 2 feet of snow yesterday, and is supposed to get 2-3 more today and tomorrow. Lots of fresh snow for this weekend.

Some friends of mine skied in the Palisades a few weeks ago (maybe a month?), snow pack was at ~20(?) feet deep. Clyde couloir will be FULL of snow! Probably super awesome for some ski mountaineering.

No photos or more recent beta for you however.

I wonder if there is so much snow you could walk to the top of the milk bottle by just walking up a snow bank?  That would be pretty funny!

If you go post some photos ~

The le comte/ Corcoran traverse looked pretty epic from lone pine last Saturday.

Thinking about psychopomp also.

Haven't decided. Any beta very welcome.

Hi,

If anyone has been up the Glacier Lodge Road recently to do anything in the Temple Crag/Palisades area by Big Pine Creek, would you mind sharing what the conditions are like on the road? I have a low clearance vehicle and wondering how far I can drive up.  Thanks.

You can get all the way to the trailhead.   We started skinning about halfway between the notch by Second Falls and the Ranger cabin.  If you're looking to bivy, we built a snow cave on the N side of Third Lake.

Just don't leave late or you will be in rotten snow. A real Alpine start and it will be frozen firm.

Must say, skiing looks epic and the U and V notch never looked so full. :)

I love unsolicated beta. I am aware of how to climb couloirs in the spring.
