How is the road to Black Velvet/Windy Peak this season?  In the past, I've (slowly) gotten an economy class Chevy Aveo back there but I hear it's been a tough weather year.  How's it looking nowadays?

I drove a Chevy Cruze on Black Velvet Rd. at the beginning of March and it was fine. You have to slalom past rocks the whole way and there are a few crux sections where you have to go pretty slow, but I thought it was very doable.

Made it back there with an Elantra GT last weekend with no issues.  There are some deep ruts and large rocks on the way, but they're always easy to avoid.

I was out there last weekend with my Subaru Crosstrek and thought one particular hill out of a wash was a bit dodgy on the way in.  That being said, I am definitely light duty.

For some reason I always see a Prius back there
