Hi all - It looks like I'm going to need to get Osteochondral Allograft Transplantation Surgery for my knee to replace a chunk of cartilage missing. I'm wondering if anyone here has had it, and can share their experience post recovery. Are you able to climb at or near the same level as before? Hike long distances with a pack? Looking for anecdotal evidence of the effectiveness of the surgery.
No experience here. But I was just also diagnosed with a grade 4 loss of articular cartilage. This procedure as brought up as an option but kind of dismissed because mine is a uniform loss of cartilage instead of a more focal loss. Looking at hyaluronic acid injections too.
Looking forward to seeing you get some useful responses.
