I remember a forum topic a while back about the road being washed out or under construction near the mailbox parking lot. I am back in town and want would like to get on this route when the weather permits, just need to know if I can get there.

road was open to the trailhead last weekend. weather has been pretty rough though (ie wet). it seems like there is on-going intermittent road construction going on.

The Middle Fork Road is scheduled to be done at the end of this summer--likely with ongoing mid-week closures until September. It is almost entirely paved out to the Middle Fork Trailhead (mile 12), with two notable gravel sections. No work is being done beyond the campground, so it is still very rough and a 4WD vehicle is recommended.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
