Hi all,

I am looking for some information about the gear that is normally used/ recommended for climbing the great red roof in Red Rock. I read on its page here only that the gear is clean with no pin scars. Any recommendations for what I should brings and/ or plan on needing?

Any little bit of information would help greatly.

I have no first hand experience, so ignore me but...
There are many, many HD videos around of folks climbing the entire thing.
From watching that, I'm reading something like triple .75, triple #1.
I'd hike in more than that. two in the .5 range, single .4, single #2???

  • I'm talking about black diamond C4 sizes.

im sure one of the MP locals more versed in the history of this and that in Red Rock will chime in if I'm wrong but I think the send count on the GRR is low enough that the "book on it isn't out" so to speak. Not that my personal experience is the gospel on what happens in the first pull out but I spend and exorbitant amount of time wandering around out there and I've ever only seen 1 person up there climbing it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
