Hey Guys, I am trying to get life insurance. My initial quote was $97 a month. When they found that I rock climb (sport climbing 1-3 times a year) my rate went to $312.
Has anyone faced this, does anyone have any other options. Are there any climbing friendly insurance companies. In there mind there is no difference between <100 sport climbing and Mt Everest.
Find a different life insurance company. Lie on the forms and say you don't rock climb. If you die while rock climbing in the first two years, they probably won't pay out.
However, life insurance policies generally have a two year "contestability period." During this period, they can challenge the validity of the policy based on what you said on the forms. After the period is up, they have to pay out regardless of whether or not you lied.
