Shoe recommendations - what's the new Red Chili Mescalito?

I have a pair of Red Chili Mescalitos that I love very, very much. I don't seem to be alone in that feeling. Alas, the rubber on both toes is starting to wear through, and although I might get them re-soled, I'd like a second pair of something to wear while they're in the shop (and just generally for backup).

Mescalitos don't seem to be sold anymore - what would people recommend that's similarly sensitive-but-not-too-sock-like, comfortable, and reasonably high-performing?

(I also have a pair of super aggressive, downturned Evolv shoes that I really don't like, so take that into consideration for recommendations.)
