Currently climbing 5.11s but I have never meet up with anyone I don't know to climb. I was wondering in march after Miguel's opens, can I find partners down there daily. I'm a newbie when it comes to climbing w. Strangers, I was also thinking about heading out west and hitting up colarado, Zion, and Yosemite, can u find partners there on a day to day basis? How? Thanks for the info:)

At Miguel's just be open and willing to make friends and chat. Hang around in the morning and night and you will be hard pressed to find someone who can't help you out.
Ive easily found partners around shelf road and RMNP just by being around and present and looking. Rifle also; seems there are always people around climbing willing to swag belays.
Really just be friendly and open!

This might be a stupid question, but how do you find others. Just go up and strait up ask? Or is there a less awkward way to find partners

I don't start a conversation with just "i need a catch". Just eat breakfast, order pizza, hang around the campfire, and just make friends. The belay partner comes along just fine after.

I have gone to the Red more times solo than I have with partners and I frequent that place A LOT. It is very easy to make friends and get a catch, especially during the peak season. Miguel's is obviously a great place to meet people. I usually strike up a conversation with them and see where they're climbing. It's really not too awkward. Just be psyched and nice and people will usually be open to letting you join.

I also find it easy to find partners at Lago Linda's too. It's a bit quieter of a campground, but it makes it easier to talk to people, imo.

Oh, also redriverclimbing.com is a great resource too for finding partners at the Red (similar to MP, but specific to the Red River Gorge).

Go! You will make new friends and have a great time!!!

MP works well too. Try to start a tread four or five days before you expect to need the partner.

Yo Joe, I'll be hanging out at Miguel's 3/11-3/18 if you need a climbing partner. I'll be solo for a most of it and I'll be climbing around the 11 rangeish.

Joe, I'll be there March 7-10, sending you a PM.
