Looking for a partner for pinnacles tomorrow, would love to get on Cuidado, but am also fairly psyched to climbing the east side at discovery/monolith.

PM me if interested!

Loose portions of this route are directly over a high traffic trail. It is against the rules of the park to climb routes that are directly over trails on weekends. Please adhere to the rules of the park for the safety of hikers and to prevent access issues.

There aren't actually park rules about routes over trails and the weekends afaik, it's a self enforced rule to help maintain access (happy to be wrong about this though!). Regardless, please don't climb Cuidado on the weekend in the interest of not killing people.

It's not a case of "a rock you pull off might hit the trail", more like "there is a funnel and anything you pull off will hit the trail...also you stand a decent chance of pulling something off".

Consider some of the mixed but mostly free routes on the front of Machete as good alternatives.

I have had rangers at pinnacles remind me not to climb routes over trails in the high peaks and bear gulch on weekends. I also believe that it is mentioned on the signage at the trailhead for bear gulch. Some of the rangers at the park also climb so they are knowledgeable and know where routes that fall into this category are located.

oh cool, guess i was wrong!

i climbed next to some guy at discovery a year or two ago who i learned at the end of the day was one of the rangers. they for sure are climbers.

You have a 200% chance of pulling off atleast a few cobblestones on Cuidado. Sweet route, but i'd only get on it extremely early in the morning if you can.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
