Was going to buy a down suit for the upcoming 8000m peaks, but am thinking of going for bib/salopette + jacket instead. A bit more weight for the salopette+jacket and a bit more bulky to carry, but it seems more versatile since you can use the use the jacket at higher camps but wait with the salopettes until its time to summit. The downsuit is pretty much just cargo all the way until the summit push.

Anyone of you guys got experience with the bib+jacket combo at 8000-peaks (or really cold environment)? Any reason to pick the suit instead, except for the reduced weight and size?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
