Does anyone know where exactly the slide occurred?

Mount Baldy is San Antonio, not San Jacinto.

Yes, Mt. Baldy = Mt. San Antonio in the San Gabriel Mountains

The hikers could have been in Baldy Bowl. But a ridge was mentioned, so perhaps the Devil's Backbone trail. Hikers fall off that trail frequently. There have been serious accidents on both.

It was the Baldy Bowl.

Two ladies were rescued off Register Ridge in a separate incident:

Wow, perfect thanks for that link.

Sorry for confusion if I typed Jacinto instead of Antonio/Baldy, my mistake.

I went up there yesterday (1/27/17) to test myself in the high winds and it was a wild good time. here is a link an unlisted video on my youtube page showing the conditions. youtu.be/tP4UJfL6UVk

Interesting enough:
When I got to the ski hut the only other people I saw were a group of four moving very slowly towards the summit of the bowl they summited 30 min before I abandoned my attempt; because the sun was setting. I never saw them again, I assume they wanted to summit the mountain. When I got back to Manker a little after sundown and there were two sheriffs in the parking looking for a group of hikers that were two hours late and reported missing. I haven't seen a news story on missing hikers so I will take that as a sign that they are okay.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. Baldy can be serious in bad conditons. I and a friend went up once in a snow storm and turned around due to shin deep sheets of granular snow flowing down around us. We walked at with a SAR team training there. On the hike down, a gully had turned into a river of loose snow that carried one of the SAR guys down about ten feet before he could self arrest. Wild and wooly day. You got to go prepared and be willing to turn around.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
