Hey guys,

Got a day off work tomorrow and wanted to check out the few boulders in the Colbert Heights area I found listed on here. Is it still open and is it worth the drive? Pretty new to climbing and normally climb at HP40 or Moss Rock, but wanted to check out something closer to home.

Thanks,

WD

I went there years ago. Decent if its close to home. Wouldnt drive too far for it. Maybe also check out Tishomingo, across the line in Mississippi.

Tishomingo has nice camping and some cool hiking, but the climbing is lackluster at best. FYI, they use to require that you have a helmet and get a climbing permit at the gate.

It will be nothing like hp or moss rock but it's not bad for the convenience factor. People go there to do all sorts of nefarious things so there will be lots of trash, broken bottles and graffiti. I'm not sure how much it is climbed either so bring a brush. Let us know how it goes.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
