MP is a great product, although the functionality for forum users is limited compared to other social media sites. Would it be productive to add a "Like" button or perhaps a "+1" button for each user to "comment" on posts? I'm guessing it's been discussed before so sorry for the redundancy. It seems like there is an abundance of lurkers, passive users reading the forums, but not participating. I can understand why someone wouldn't commit to posting a comment in a thread as some users seem to pride themselves on being intimidating, condescending, puerile, sexist, homophobic, elitist, and mean spirited when rebuffing unwanted perspectives. If there were an easier, more effortless way to interact i.e. "Likes" then we would possibly see a significant increase in user participation and a more accurate representation of the climbing community persona. So why no "Like / dislike" "Funny / Die" or equivalent buttons?

Many have mentioned that MP needs a thank/like option. Often, I see a great post that I would like to thank or like. Since the option doesn't exist, I usually skip posting so as to avoid cluttering the forum with a quote and +1 post.
