Winter Climbing PNW - anybody up for it??

I am hoping to get a little group going on of folks who are interested in doing some winter climbing around the PNW. Bigger objectives like the volcanoes are all awesome, but also doing more technical stuff would also be a blast for those up for it!

Based in Seattle, so I'm down to grab coffee or drinks just to get to know each other.

I'm on the other side of the mountains, but I'm always down for winter fun.

I've been in dire need of a partner willing to try NE face of Johannesburg mountain.

Kawika Mau - Are you thinking to do this in winter or during the normal season? I would give it a shot during the normal season! Winter hazards might be a bit high for my blood.

AnthonyLubetski - The location is no problem!

Hi Chris, shoot me a PM if you'd like to climb. I'm competent on 5.8 WI3 M3 and am very motivated to get out. Gerber-Sink is high on the list this year.

I'm relatively new to winter climbing, but I lead 11a/WI3, and have enough aid climbing experience to follow anything! Let me know if you need a partner on anything. I'm based out of Pullman (Student there), but I'm willing to drive!

I'm a rock climber looking to get cold this winter if you (or anybody) are interested in going out with a noob. Aside from practicing self-arrest and tromping up snow hills, I'm a total novice on ice/mixed/snow. But, I do have a lot of rock experience including stuff in the high sierra (Keeler Needle, S Face of Conness, Dark Star) and wall/aid climbing (C3, no nailing experience).
I'm in pretty good shape and motivated to learn, but hesitant to go out and figure it out myself like I did with rock, as snow/ice tends to slide, melt, etc..
I'm in Portland right now and happy to drive into WA to get out. I'm a neo-dirtbag (live in a truck and travel part-time for work) so my schedule is wide open aside from training when I'm not working. I've got boots, crampons, tools, and a sh*t ton of rock gear/ropes.

Cheers,
Brian

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I am just moving back to WA and am looking to get out. I am gunning for Stuart glacier, Triple couloirs, and west ridge of North Twin Sister, but am stoked to get on and on anything.

What's climbing North Twin west ridge typically like mid winter? Does it get technical?

Hey all, I'm based in Bellingham and super motivated to get out on the winter stuff - can lead 5.10 and WI4 and stoked for pretty much any winter climbing. Triple couloirs is high on the list. Lemme know if you want to get out!

Anybody interested in Hood this Saturday? The conditions look like they will be right.

If we start early, we can probably catch the Seahawks game in a bar somewhere afterwards too!

I am not 100% sure what the route will be like mid winter. I would imagine that it never gets all that technical.

Hi group--

I am based in Boise and would like to get out to do a bit of winter mountaineering. Skiing/ climbing/ camping and any combination sounds good. I have not done anything in the Cascades, but have a time window on Feb. 3rd 4th and 5th and would be willing to drive to meet up (or from here!), especially to the Eastern Cascades. I have my AVI 1, and feel comfortable following WI3-4 and similar mixed terrain (I have been skiing in and out of resort a lot this season and climbing in the gym a few times a week with a bit of ice and mixed as well) and would be interested in doing something fairly moderate (Mt. St. Helens looks good if the conditions are right) and can go from there. I am open to other routes as well. Safety first, and fun exploring second!

Been doing a lot around here but itching to get out a bit. Drop me a line, Jack

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
